A Brooklyn-based upholstery and furniture studio founded by Ella Hall and Thomas Chen. We combine quality manufacturing and technological innovation to create custom upholstered furniture.

Our Story

Ella's journey to Stitchroom began at an interior design startup, where she managed a team of designers frustrated by unreliable workrooms, missed timelines, poor communication, and inconsistent quality. With her background in fashion and sewing, she knew she could do better and began making pillows and cushions out of her living room as a side hustle. This quickly took off, and within months, she left her job to launch Stitchroom full-time.

As the company grew, Ella realized the real challenge wasn't just quality products, it was fixing the broken systems behind them. Partnering with Thomas Chen, a longtime friend and tech entrepreneur, she built Stitchroom into a 6,000-square-foot Brooklyn Navy Yard studio where craftsmanship meets modern technology. Today, Stitchroom's mission is to make custom furniture seamless, bringing ideas to life exactly as imagined, without the headaches.

The Founders

Ella is the CEO of Stitchroom. With a foundation in fashion design, textiles, and fabrication, Ella brings over a decade of hands-on expertise in upholstery and custom furniture production. She leads Stitchroom's creative and operational vision—guiding design development, managing the leadership team, and collaborating with designers through sampling and prototyping.

Her approach balances traditional craftsmanship with modern efficiency, ensuring every piece reflects both artistry and precision while pushing the boundaries of what custom fabrication can achieve.

Thomas is the CTO of Stitchroom. Thomas is the systems architect behind Stitchroom's streamlined operations. With a background in technology, process design, and business strategy, he's responsible for building the digital infrastructure that powers the company—from quoting and scheduling to production tracking.

His focus on automation and scalability transforms a historically manual industry into one that's transparent, efficient, and built for growth.
